Wipe behind and around both of your baby s outer ears. Use the lukewarm washcloth to gently wipe away any ear wax build up behind your baby s ears. Clean baby ears using a washcloth. While cotton swabs are out most experts agree that it s safe to use a washcloth to clean the outside of a child s ears. Wet a clean washcloth with lukewarm water. You can also use a q tip for this. Follow these simple steps.

Gently wipe behind baby s ears and around the outside of each ear. Stubborn earwax is sometimes scraped out with a tool called a curette. To dry ears after a bath or a shower instruct your child tilt their ear to one side against a towel and then tilt their head to the other allowing water to drip out on its own. Repeat this process for the other ear as well.

Use a cloth or tissue to wipe away any wax that has migrated out of the ear canal. Wet the washcloth or cotton ball with warm water. Ask pretty much any pediatrician and they will likely tell you the best way to clean baby ears is with a washcloth. Remember not all baby earwax is harmful.

This method is not for cleaning the inner part of the ear. Then use another section of the washcloth to wipe away any wax along the outer part of your baby s earlobe. Squeeze out any excess water from the washcloth to prevent moisture from entering the ear canal.
